Edna Lorraine Anderson

Our mother, Lorraine (Vaccari) Anderson—known to all as Gram—passed away peacefully, surrounded by a circle of family and love. To everyone who knew her, she was more than a mother, sister, grandmother, aunt or friend; she was a living reminder of love. She moved through life with the quiet strength and radiant love of someone touched by heaven itself—an angel walking among us. Her early years were marked by hardship. Separated from her family as a young girl, she and her brother Fran lived in the Home for Little Wanderers until their devoted sister Rose found them and reunited their hearts. From those difficult beginnings, she grew into a woman whose spirit only shone brighter. Instead of becoming hardened she showed us that family is sacred, that compassion is a choice, and that forgiveness is freedom. She taught us to let go of the past, to carry no grudges, and to believe—deeply—that life is good. Our home growing up was a place of warmth and belonging. She welcomed everyone—family, friends, and often complete strangers—with open arms and an open heart. People left our home feeling lighter, seen, comforted. She had a gift that cannot be taught: the ability to love in a way that healed others. She had the heart of an angel and the soul of someone who carried heaven within her. Saturdays became legendary—meatball Saturdays. The house filled with the comforting scent of simmering sauce, pasta, and homemade desserts. But even more unforgettable than the food was the feeling of those days: joy, laughter, family, love. Wherever she was, blessings seemed to gather. She loved walking in the woods, the ocean beaches and going to our family camp on Moosehead Lake. She leaves behind many whose lives she touched: Her sister Rose; her brothers Fran and Joey & Eva. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Tammy & Scott; Rachel & Ryan, Matthew, and Michaela; Correy & Seija, Gianna and Charlee Rose; Jessie Cheryle & Ralph, Tyler and Vivian Our Angel Laura and her family: Cassandra & Erik, Adelyn and Bennett; Greg; Kyle & Elizabeth, Waylon and baby Howard Danielle & Ricky; Amber & Sid; Amie & Eric, Mason and Ryder Jay & Dianna; Asa & Emma And all her nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the countless souls blessed by her presence. Hers was a heart made of pure gold. Honoring her wishes, there will be no traditional funeral service. Instead, we will gather for a Celebration of Life—a joyful remembrance of the angel we were fortunate enough to walk beside, and the comfort that she is now at peace in the arms of God. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 21st, from 1–4 PM at 33 Elmwood Venue in Westbrook, ME. We thank each of you for your love, support, and prayers. Knowing how deeply she was loved is a testament to the heavenly light she brought into this world.
