Scott Brian Drinkwater

Scott Brian Drinkwater, 68, of Westbrook, our incredible brother, friend, and dad, peacefully passed away in his home on May 16, 2024. He was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine on December 8, 1955, to Lloyd and Phyllis Drinkwater. He graduated from Deering High School in 1974. Scott pursued his education further at the University of Hawaii (1975), Jefferson College in Kentucky (1990-1991), and USM (1982-1984). He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1975. Scott was stationed in Governors Island, NYC where he attended Electrician’s Mate School. After graduation he went on to the Coast Guard Cutter Mallow in Honolulu, Hawaii; then served at USCG Air Base in Barbara’s Point, Oahu. His final station he served on was the Coast Guard Cutter Bibb in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Scott continued his career as an electrician by joining the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 567, Portland Maine, where he served a four year apprenticeship. He worked as an electrician in, and around Portland Maine, Chicago, San Francisco, Honolulu and Kawaii, Hawaii. He went on to form his own company, Action Electric, Inc. which was very successful for many years. Scott pursued his passion for real estate development building many homes he loved in the greater Portland area, Little Sebago, and Westbrook. Among other business pursuits Scott enjoyed trading in stocks, and futures working in the financial world. He had a passion for adrenaline whether it was flying an airplane, exploring on his snowmobile, driving one of his many motorcycles or one of his fast cars (he owned 51 total cars in his lifetime). Through the many visitors and friends that have stopped by in Scott’s last days it is evident that Scott enjoyed a lively joke or pun and was also the first one to show up when someone needed service or an extra set of hands. He wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of and would put his own comfort to the side to make sure a job was finished. Scott was a faithful, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was always looking for ways to serve the members in church and fulfill his callings to his best. He especially cherished his friendships he formed with the men in the Elders Quorum. He had a deep love for his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and lived his testimony. Scott is survived by his son, Bryan McKenna, daughter-in-law Amanda, and his grandson, James of Steep Falls, Maine, Brother, Kirk Drinkwater and Caroline Jacobson of Pownal, Maine, and sister, Laurie Maldari and her husband David of Harpswell, Maine with their three children Jeffrey (wife, Meaghan and two children), Sarah (husband, Matthew)Thompson, and Kevin. Preceded in death by his Father, Lloyd I. Drinkwater and Mother, Phyllis M. Drinkwater. The family would like to thank those from Southern Maine Hospice and all other healthcare people who served Scott during his battle with Parkinson’s. They would also like to thank all of the friends who loved and spent time with Scott during his final days. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building, 755 River Road, Windham, Maine 04062 on June 1, 2024 at 10:00am. Interment will be held following the funeral services at Blanchard Cemetery, 215 Winn Road, Falmouth, Maine. A luncheon will be held after interment services, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for family, church family, and close friends.
