South Portland, ME – Daniel Jefferson Lord, 60, of South Portland, Danny was guided home by God's Angels on August 24, 2023. Daniel was born on November 23, 1962, to Noreen Audrey Nielsen Lord and Dexter Gordon Lord, Sr. in Portland, Maine He was know as the "Dog Whisper" and Loved by the neighborhood canine. Dan loved his job at Coppersmith's and his coworkers. Neighbors were happy and supportive of Danny's job and would give him rides to and from work when his Sister wasn't able. Danny will be wholeheartedly missed by everyone. Danny was Danny, what you saw was what you got. No pretending, just good ole Danny. He was also a loved patron of the Oldest Pub in Portland, Matthews Bar. He was loved and appreciated by his family and extended family which included Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Great Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Great Cousins etc... Danny was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout with his Mother as the Den Leader. He enjoyed living, feeding the birds, Squirrels, Neighborhood Dogs, playing Card Games, Cribbage, Slot Machines and Video Bowling He was on a Bowling League and a Pool League. He'd often ask Beverly "Do you want to come out and play in the Rain or Traffic" Dan was a mainstay guard for the neighborhood, often yelling at people who ran the Stop Sign and 18 Wheelers that came into the neighborhood mistakenly. As a youngster, Danny loved to swim and was an excellent diver. He was known for his double dive and powerful belly flops creating big splashes. Dan enjoyed Movies / TV which included Westerns, Crime and Old Style Cartoons, Chuck Norris, Sylvester Stallone, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Star Trek, Batman, Superman, but don't interrupt him while he's watching his shows. Daniel is predeceased by his Mother Noreen Nielsen, Lord, Waltman, and Father Dexter Lord, Step Father Harold Waltman, Twin Brothers Peter and Paul Lord, Brother David Lord, Uncles Herbert and Arthur Nielsen, Aunt Linda Nielsen, Daniel is survived by his Sister, Yvette Lord Nason, Twin Brother, Deven Lord, Brother, Shyon Waltman (Corey), Companion, Friend, Ex Wife Beverly Lord, Aunt Eileen Nielsen Johnsen, Aunt Penny Gilliam, many Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces, Grand Nephews. Many Great Friends and Neighbors, Neighborhood Dogs. Family, Friends, and Coworkers are invited to Danny's Celebration of Life at his request will be held at Coppersmith's Restaurant, Main St, South Portland, ME from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. September 17, 2023, Sunday. Daniel's interment will be at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 881 Highland Ave, South Portland, ME September 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM. If you wish to honor Danny please make a small contribution to your local animal shelter for dogs. You can also have a beer with friends. This would make Danny smile.
