David S. Choate, 76, of Windham, Maine, passed away on November 14, 2025. David was born on February 11, 1949, in Rhode Island to Stephen and Phyllis (Kingston) Choate. He grew up in various locations, as a "Navy Brat" and made many friends everywhere he went. Over the years, David served four years in the Navy as a photographer. He was a proud graduate of the University of Maine at Fort Kent and New Hampshire College. He worked tirelessly earning the respect of colleagues, friends, and family alike. David will be remembered for his kindness, humor and generosity. He enjoyed traveling and following all New England sports teams. He was passionate about target shooting and was a lifelong member at the Scarborough Fish and Game Association. He was deeply devoted to his family and the American Legion in Windham. David is survived by his loving wife, Doreen, and his siblings Cheryl Greer, Jeanne Helie, and Peter Choate. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Phyllis Choate, and his sister Becky. A celebration of life with military honors will be held in the spring of 2026 at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Field Allen American Legion Post 148 in Windham, Maine and the Glioblastoma Foundation in David's memory. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers and medical staff for the wonderful care he received during his illness.
