Augusta - Francis Eugene Joseph (Joe Motorcycle), 74, passed away on Thursday June 30, 2022 with family by his side. A longtime resident of Vassalboro, he was born on November 8, 1947 in Marshfield, Massachusetts, the son of the late Frank and Harriet (Houghton) Joseph. Joe was a loyal friend, an esteemed motorcycle enthusiast and historian. He was a social character who was quite fond of making other people happy. He enjoyed meeting new people, travelling, telling stories and helping others. In his life, he covered a lot of ground and no matter what, he just kept right on going. He liked to tease and always pushed the envelope. He had fun picking antiques, trading motorcycles and collecting treasures. He was independent and self-driven. He started working at a young age and pursued his dream of owning land and building his own home in the country. He mastered several trades and valued most of his life's work being self-employed. He owned Joseph's Motorcycle Supply, Joseph's Drywall and Joseph's Welding. His welding business brought him to travel the State of Maine, following the carnival, which granted his children and their friends unlimited ride wristbands at local fairs. He will always be remembered for being generous, quick-witted and resilient. He was proud of his children and always welcomed them back home. He was a member of United Bikers of Maine UBM, Yankee Chapter AMCA, Harley Owners Group and 1974 Biggest Bucks in Maine Club. In his later years, he devoted his time volunteering with Maureen at Getchell's Corner Food Pantry and The China Food Pantry. His favorite adventures brought him to various spots in Belfast, Boothbay Harbor, Rangeley, Cape Cod, Ma and Carlisle/Hershey, Pa with his closest friends and family. He loved riding Motorcycles along the coasts of Maine or Massachusetts and would stop to have good food and make memories with friends along the way. Each year, he looked forward to going to The Great Northern Motorcycle Swap Meet in Augusta to wheel and deal or meet up with old friends. Joe Motorcycle was one of a kind. He was loved dearly. He will be greatly missed and will never be forgotten. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Frank Jr. (Buddy) Joseph and Paul Joseph.
