John Thomas Munton Jr, 70, passed away on October 11, 2023 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born in Hilo, Hawaii to John T. Munton Sr and Lois M. (Geaglone) Munton. John grew up in Uncasville, CT, where he met his wife Anita. The two were married on May 19, 1984. As a young married couple with two children, the family moved to Brunswick, ME in 1992. Soon after, John accepted a position at Gibbs & Cox in Brunswick, where he helped design boats through AutoCad for the US Navy and happily retired from General Dynamics in December 2020. He also spent many years working at Thomas Point Beach helping at various events, his favorite being the annual Bluegrass Festival where you could always spot him cleaning the grounds and making sure all of the patrons had enough picnic tables and fire rings to make the most of their time during the festivities. Over the years, John had many interests and was truly a "jack-of-all trades." Some of his favorite activities were fishing, HAM radio, DIY projects, fixing cars, and drinking lots of coffee. He was always willing to help others that needed it, never asking for so much as a thank you. John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Anita Munton, his son Michael Munton and his wife Emily Munton and their two children Maggie and Charlie John of Sydney, Australia and his son Phillip John Munton and his finacé Corianna Mascena of Brunswick, ME as well as Randall (Arí) Torres-Maysonet of Dallas, TX. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Thomas Point Beach with more details to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The American Radio Relay League or MidCoast Humane Society. "
