Kerri Rose Gilligan passed away on September 23, 2026 in Portland, Maine. She was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts.

Today, as a family, we pause to honor the life of our Kerri Rose who, through the journey of her life, was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. We carry her memory with us and reflect on the moments and memories that made her life meaningful to those who knew her.

Today, we ask that you take a moment to hold your loved ones a little closer. Check on the people who matter to you, tell them you love them, and never take their presence for granted. Life is precious, and every moment with the people we love is a gift.

She is survived by her parents, Mary and Dan Courter of Winthrop, ME, her brothers Jack and Ryan Gilligan of Portland, ME, Thomas Gilligan and her grandmother, Judy Gilligan, of N. Andover, MA, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased in death by her grandparents Eileen and Robert Preskenis of Northport, ME and Thomas Gilligan of N. Andover, MA.

We would like to thank the staff at Maine Medical Center and the many outreach programs in Portland for their compassion, respect and love they extended to Kerri. If you would like to honor Kerri’s memory please send a donation to a local food bank in her name.

A private Catholic service and burial will be held in Kerri’s memory.
