Obituary

Linda Alberta Dube, 69, of Westbrook, Maine, passed away suddenly on December 11th, 2022. Linda was born on November 26, 1953, to Kenneth and Alberta Cunningham in Portland, Maine. Predeceased by beloved sister Lois Norberg (Cunningham) 1949-2022. Linda is survived by her husband: Scott Dube, son: Jason & wife Jill Dennison, sister: Sandra Cunningham, brothers: Bud (Kenneth) & wife Vickie, Richard, and Bruce & wife Gina Cunningham. She is also survived by seven nephews and nieces plus many other extended family and friends. Linda was a loving sister, mother, wife and friend to all that knew her. As a sister, she always held her siblings to a high esteem. Linda valued her relationships with them immensely. She would often reminisce about growing up and being the second youngest of the six children. At a young age she acquired the nickname Linda Charles. Her brother was called Richard Charles when he was in trouble. Thinking that "Charles" was part of the scolding, he would call Linda, Linda Charles when she was in trouble. The name stuck with her as a running joke until the end. While she maintained a loving relationship with all of her siblings in most recent years she spent a lot of time with her eldest sister. Sandra's strength and courage helped Linda through some tough times dealing with medical and personal issues. Most recently she was grieving the loss of her sister Lois Norberg and her aunt Annella Catruch. The pain of losing a sister and aunt was difficult for Linda to overcome because of the great love she held for her family. Her son Jason was born in May of 1973. He was a source of endless joy and happiness for her. Jason's adventures, activities and creations filled her with the loving pride that a mother holds dear. Whether it be stories of surfing ocean waves, playing music, or tales of daily life, Linda loved talking to her son. They shared the same sense of humor and would laugh together over everything, especially goofy greeting cards. They could cry together over the challenges that life had given them. Mostly they were each so grateful that they had a wonderful mother and son relationship and could enjoy one another in their lives. Linda loved having Jason as a son and would tell everyone she knew, "that's my son" with a smile on her face and love in her eyes. Linda met her husband Scott Dube 1996 and immediately fell in love. He surprised her with an at work proposal and they were married in April of 2001. Linda and Scott built a beautiful home together in Lyman, Maine. They lived the country life there with their beagles Max and Molly for 20 plus years. They then relocated to Bridgeton, Maine with their new furry friend, a little cat named willow. Linda and Scott loved to go on adventures together whether it be driving to the White Mountains, camping in Andover or canoeing on one of the local lakes. Together they enjoyed experiencing the outdoors and being in nature. Scott held special place in her heart and they shared a loving bond until her last day. As much as she loved her family, she loved and cherished her friendships just the same. She met her best friend Connie at a young age working at Fairchild's and maintained a lifelong relationship with her that persevered through thick and thin. The two of them were part of a group of ladies known as The Cowgirls. They all loved to get together, share some spirits and just laugh and enjoy life. Linda had met many people and maintained many close friendships over the years and always had wonderful things to say about everyone of them. Linda had various jobs in her younger years. The majority of her professional life though was spent working for Hannaford's in the bakery and deli departments. She was a very hard and loyal worker who retired after 25 plus years of service for the company. When Linda wasn't working working she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time in nature and most recently talked about getting back in the water to do some kayaking. She also had an artsy side and expressed herself with a variety of creative outlets such as painting, crafting, macramé, and scrapbooking. She was a very kind hearted woman and was able to make people laugh with her goofy sense of humor. She had a genuine way of connecting with people and everyone she met always had nothing but wonderful things to say about her. She would selflessly and generously do anything she could to help a friend or family member. Linda will be cremated and buried with her family at Highland Cemetery in Scarborough, Maine, in the spring of 2023.
