Obituary

Marcia R. Giarusso, 76, of Gorham, Maine, passed away on May 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with dementia. Born on March 16, 1950, in Flushing, L.I., New York, Marcia lived a life defined by warmth, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.

A proud Italian woman with a heart as big as her personality, Marcia possessed a rare gift for connection. She could strike up a conversation with a complete stranger and leave them smiling, their day made brighter simply for having crossed her path. She was honest, funny, and endlessly caring, the kind of person who made everyone around her feel welcomed and valued. Those who knew her understood that her warmth was not performed but deeply genuine, an extension of who she was at her very core.

Marcia was, above all else, a devoted mother. She poured herself into the role with the fierce, nurturing love of a typical Italian mom, filling her home with the aromas of extraordinary cooking and the comfort of unconditional support. Her talents extended well beyond the kitchen. She was a gifted artist who loved to draw, an avid gardener, and an enthusiastic lover of movies, animals, and quality time spent with family. Her beloved dog, Zoey, held a special place in her heart.

Marcia dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She ran a daycare, nurturing children in the community with the same tenderness she showed her own family. She also owned and operated the Admiral Motel, where her friendly and talkative nature made every guest feel welcome.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Marcia loved God with her whole heart. She carried that faith with her in everything she did, loving others as she believed she was called to do. Her compassion, her laughter, and her stubborn determination reflected a woman who walked closely with the Lord throughout her days. She now rests peacefully in His embrace.

Funeral and memorial service will be held on Friday, June 12th @ 4:45 PM. It will be at the Life Church located at 8 Elkins Road, Gorham, ME 04038.

Her son shared these words in her memory: "To my mother in heaven, thank you for always loving me and guiding me. Even though you are no longer here with me, I can still feel your love guiding me. You are always in my heart. I love you and miss you dearly."
