In Loving Memory of Matthew J. Allen Sr. 

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Matthew Joseph Allen Sr., of Auburn, Maine, who passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, at the age of 39. 

Matthew was born on October 13, 1986, in New Haven, Connecticut. He was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose kind heart, generosity, humor, and love touched the lives of so many. 

Matthew’s greatest joy was his son, Matthew J. Allen Jr. Being a father was one of the most important parts of his life, and the love he had for his son was unmistakable. He also found happiness in antique collecting, truck driving, taking walks by the ocean, and caring for his beloved pets. Matthew will be deeply missed by his son, Matthew J. Allen Jr.; his mother, Gail Rodriguez, and stepfather, Carlito Rodriguez; his father, Richard Allen Jr., and stepmother, Barbara Allen; his brothers, Richard Allen III and Kevin Allen; his stepbrothers and stepsisters, Charlie Rodriguez, Thomas Rodriguez, Tara Gaudet, Melissa Hutchinson, Keith Durost, and Christina Durso Harrison; as well as his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey and Helen Davis and Richard and Evelyn Allen. 

Those who knew Matthew will remember him for his good heart, his sense of humor, his love for his family, and especially the love he carried for his son. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but the memories he gave us will remain with us always. 

A celebration of Matthew’s life will be held at a future date. Details will be shared with family and friends when arrangements have been finalized. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations, if desired, be made in Matthew’s memory to Sweetser Mental Health Services or the Central Maine Medical Center ICU, in gratitude for the care and support they provide to others. 

Matthew leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loves him deeply, and a legacy of love that will never be forgotten. Rest peacefully, Matthew. You will forever be loved, forever missed, and always remembered.
