Orlando A. Mainit, 64, of South Portland, Maine passed on 3/07/2025 ending his short battle with ALS. Orlando was born on 9/24/1960 in Santa Cruz Laguna, Philippines. He attended schools in Santa Cruz, graduating from Pedro Guevara High School. Orlando worked as a construction laborer in the Philippines for many years. After moving to the United States in 2009, He worked for a short time as a custodian and a cook before he secured a position with the United States Postal Service. He recently retired from work as a mail handler with the Postal Service. Orlando had a strong work ethic and an easy going "can do" attitude. His self sacrificing spirit was something that we all should seek to emulate. Orlando loved a good party and he was always the first one to offer help with setting up and cleaning up. He was well known for his smile and his love of dancing. Everyone had a good time when Orlando was on the dance floor! Orlando realized his American Dream when he became a Naturalized United States Citizen, got his drivers license, and bought himself a brand new car. He then was able to build a home for his family still living in the Philippines. Orlando is predeceased by his parents, Trinidad Avenales Mainit and Benjamin Limjuco Mainit; his siblings, Vicente, Fe Maria, Crispin, Violetta and Venus. He is survived by brothers Juanito Mainit, Benjamin Jr. and Sister in Law Luna Mainit. He is also survived by his wife Rosalyn, his sons Rosendo and Reamar and his beloved grandchildren Raemgel Clyde and Markiesha who were the light of his life. A celebration of life will be held at a future time to be announced.
