Peter James Dorey (Pete) 61, of Richmond, Maine passed away on Thursday, July 14 peacefully at his home after fighting a short battle with cancer. He was born on October 12, 1960 in Neptune, New Jersey to Christopher and Anita (Schroeder) Dorey, where he was one of five children. The love of helping people started in his younger years with being a big part of the first-aid, within the firehouse with his father, then later becoming a volunteer firefighter in his early adult years. He took a job at the naval air station in Lakehurst, New Jersey as a civilian firefighter. After some trips to Maine to hunt and fish, in 1985 he transferred his job to Maine at the naval fire station with his young family in tow. He became a police officer for the town of Topsham in 1986. After many years of service to the town, he retired in 2003 and started working for Bill Dodge in Brunswick, Maine for the next 7 years in the parts department. He ended his career at Cobb's auto Repair in Bowdoinham, Maine where he worked closely for the next 7 years with the owner, Kyle Cobb. Peter had a love of golf, racing and wildlife. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, in which he spent a lot of time in Northern Maine with close friends.vytf;i He is survived by his daughter, Nicole (Erica) Gillespie of South Carolina and his son Kyle Dorey of Maine. His grandchildren, Bella, Jace and Kingston all of South Carolina : Chandler (Austin) of Georgia: Kamden and Kallie of Maine. His great granddaughter Oaklynn of Georgia. Also surviving his two sisters, Terry (James) Grubby and JoAnn (Ronald) Megill. His brothers Christopher (Karen) Dorey and William Dorey all of New Jersey. His nephew Christopher Grubby, two nieces Stephaine Carney and Caitlynn Dorey-Estelle all of New Jersey. Peter is pre-deceased by his father Christopher Morrison Dorey, mother Anita Wilma Dorey and daughter, April Rose Dorey. At his request there will be no services.
