Vernon Forrest Wilson, III of Gray, Maine passed away August 18, 2025, with his three beloved daughters by his side, just as he wanted, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Forrest was born on May 14, 1974 in Durham, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry and Sheila Godwin; grandparents, Luther Kerr, Debro and Delia Poole, James O. and Phoebe Godwin; nephew, Darin Wolfe, and niece, Brianna Wilson. He attended Midway High School and graduated from Central Carolina Community College. He worked for Portland Safe. Forrest's greatest treasure, joy, and love in life were his daughters, Nicole, Rory, and Charlotte. He was a very dedicated, involved, supportive, and loving dad and a wonderful brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to many. To know him was to love him! He was genuine, selfless, and kind and was known for his fun personality, wit, and humor. In addition to his daughters, he is survived by his grandchildren, Madison Verhasselt, Destiny Wolfe, and Damien Burnette; brothers, Brian Wilson and Kevin Wilson; and several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who were family. He will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved him. Per Forrest's wishes, A Celebration of Life Service will be held next month in both Maine and North Carolina.
