Our beautiful selfless and loving Mother, Nana, G-Nana, Virginia Ratay, born September 16, 1932, to Percy L. Wood and Lotia M. Heal, has passed away on January 21 at Augusta General Hospital of a stroke. All her children got to spend beautiful days with her, loving and hugging and reminiscing her life before she passed which brought many smiles and I love yous. She grew up in Augusta, Me and moved to Dover NH and married and raised six children who were her joy in life. She Loved Sewing and Cooking and especially Maine Lobster! After being widowed, she returned to Augusta to live with her sister, Viola Gaudet, for many years and moved to Arch Beta about 20 yrs. ago where she made friends and enjoyed living there. She enjoyed the many NH visits, trips, parties and holidays spent with her children, grandchildren and families. Virginia was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Robert Wood, her son, Lawrence Ratay and her husband, Joseph Ratay. She is survived by her 5 children, Joseph Ratay Jr. of Rochester, NH, Sundra Nation of Strafford, NH, Suzanne Chase of Northwood, NH, Thomas Ratay of Massachusetts and Christine Foster of NJ. She is also survived by 11 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great Great Grandchildren., cousins, Nieces and Nephews and Sister-in-Law, Frances Wood. The family would like to extend their Thanks to Augusta General Hospital for their excellent care and kindness. Also our Thanks to Arch Beta Staff and friends for giving her a comfortable place she enjoyed living at with activities and gatherings. A family service will be held in the Spring when the flowers are blooming and birds are singing, where she will be laid to rest with her husband and Son in Dover, NH.
